To Baby Lauryn, with love at Christmas from Nana

My Mom sent this to Lauryn with love for Christmas time. Grab the kleenex! It's far to special to leave as a comment on the blog. Thanks Mom this is very special! Merry Christmas Baby Lauryn!

Nana’s Pearls of Wisdom…

I’ve travelled paths you’ve yet to walk
Learned lessons old and new
And now this wisdom of my life
I’m blessed to share with you.

Let kindness spread like sunshine
Embrace those who are sad.
Respect their dignity, give them joy
And leave them feeling glad.
Forgive those who might hurt you
And though you have your pride,
Listen closely to their viewpoint
Try to see the other side.

Walk softly when you’re angry
Try not to take offense.
Invoke your sense of humour
Laughter’s power is immense!
Express what you are feeling
Your beliefs you should uphold
Don’t shy away from what is right
Be courageous and be bold.
Keep hope right in your pocket
It will guide you day by day.
Take it out when it is needed
When it’s near, you’ll find a way.
Remember friends and family
Of which you are a precious part.
Love deeply and love truly
Give freely from your heart.
The world is far from perfect
There’s conflict and there’s strife
But you still can make a difference
By how you live your life.

And so I’m very blessed to know
The wonders you will do
Because you are my Lauryn
And I believe in you!

Happy Christmas

To all our family and friends,
Wanted to wish each and everyone of you a very Happy Christmas. I hope you all get a chance to take a deep breath and count your blessings.
We have so much to be thankful for. Our families are healthy, and for the most part happy. We have a beautiful home, which we have filled with our love. We are surrounded by friends and family. Each one who has expressed an interest in our adoption journey and has been there for us to lend an ear, an shoulder, or provide a good laugh!
We all know that this journey is a long one. We still have quite a distance to travel! The support has made it a lot easier. We thank you for this.

It's almost Christmas Eve in China. I can't believe it. It seems like such a special day to talk about baby Lauryn. Although, she really is in our thoughts every day. I don't know how to explain it. She is already born in our hearts. She is ours. She is our daughter... I wonder if she can feel it? I hope so.

To our daughter Lauryn;
Another year is coming to an end. Another year that we have prayed for a speed up! We have talked about you, thought about you, picked up little things for your that we couldn't let slip by. Johnson still knows you are coming. He has "used" some of your toys that are waiting for you in your room. We can't wait to see you two play together. Good news is, Daddy and I have made huge progress in your room. With Nana and Grandpas help you have the most beautiful dresser, a crib, new toys, clothes and a lamp! Lots of books too! You have received some beautiful gifts. Lucky girl! Nana and Grandpa speak of you often. They are telling everyone that will listen that this time next year they may be grandparents. Grandma has bought you several special items from her travels this year. You have two new cousins! Two boys! Baby Alister and Baby Reid. They are beautiful. It makes us even more anxious for your arrival.
Daddy was on a business trip and Grandpa came to stay with me. We went to get a few things at Walmart. We ran into a blogger friend who has just returned home with the most precious baby girl. One day you might get to meet her! Grandpa had tears in his eyes when he was introduced to this little girl. We can't wait until it's our turn to show off our girl. We have such hopes for you. The dreams that your father and I use to share for just us. Have slowly turned into the 3 of us. It warms my heart and keeps the wait bearable!
On Christmas Eve, it seems extra important to tell you how much you are loved. I can't wait for you to be about 8, reading this on the computer and see you roll your eyes. Get use to it kid, your Mom is a sap!
Be a really good girl. Santa is on his way. You have lots of presents at home waiting for you. Lots at Nana and Grandpa's and Grandma's house too! Lucky girl.
Sleep tight my little angel. I hope you feel our love all the way around the world!
You have a safe, warm, comfy home waiting for you. You have two parents that adore you already! A puppy who can't wait to play with you, a cat who will learn to tolerate you and your curiosity! Most importantly... a family. We are so excited, and although the wait is a long one, each day brings us that much closer to holding you!
With all our love,
Mommy and Daddy
Johnson and Peanut too!

Happy Birthday Nana to be!

Just a quick post to wish the world's best mom and the world's best Nana to be a very happy birthday! Mom, you are everything special to me. You have kissed every hurt away for the last 35 years! Thanks for following our journey through adoption with us. I don't know how we ever would have made it this far without the love and support from our family. You have been our biggest cheerleader, our strongest sounding board and have celebrated all the little milestones that we have met. I can't wait to see you as a Nana! WOW!
Thanks just doesn't seem to cover it. I hope you know that you are not only loved but appreciated on your birthday and always. Thanks Mom. My life wouldn't be the same without you in it. Have a fantastic day! Happy Birthday! Love ya! xo

dotting i's and crossing t's

Let's face it friends, Christmas is just around the corner. I checked my calendar the other day and we have something planned EVERY weekend until the big day. Don't know how we are going to fit it all in. We all know that some how, some way things all get done.
Today was a great day. I woke up to the delicious smell of pancakes. I came downstairs to the sight of my darling husband in his Christmas pj's and my slippers slaving over a hot griddle. We had breakfast together and then is was time for Christmas to deck our halls. Deck our halls we did! The tree is up. Stair cases and kitchen decorated... Christmas cards are done, just need stamps! Christmas lists are made and Christmas craft project supplies are bought! Now I just need baking supplies, we are having a house full on Boxing Day. Oh yeah, outside needs to be decorated too!
Peanut our cat is curled up under the tree on the tree skirt, Johnson is snoring on the couch. Kyle, the love of my life is eating apple crisp and watching the Grey cup! Life is good! We talked a lot about baby Lauryn today. Wondering what she will think of our Christmas decorating! Wondering what she will think of our traditional pancake breakfast before we put our tree up, and our traditional dinner the same night!
My heart is full of love for my husband, he is amazing and amazes me daily! We had to get everything done this weekend. Kyle leaves on a business trip this week and is gone for 11 days! He's is home for a few days and then off again... oh well, tis the season!
I'm off to hit the showers... it's been a busy day. I'm ready for bed.
Hope everyone had a great weekend.
Be good, Santa is watching... I hope he has a close eye on baby Lauryn... I hope she is home soon.
I love the thought of that little girl (our daughter, OMG!) experiencing Christmas... WOW! I can't wait!
Keep Happy!

Lest We Forget. A Tribute to a Veteran

This is an amazing story. If memory serves, I think I posted the same one last year. Hope everyone took time to remember today. Keep Happy xo
Remembrance Day
I hope everyone will take the time to remember, because the people that fought for us, they will never forget. Here's an email I got today. It's a pretty incredible story!THE VETERAN ON OUR TEN DOLLAR BILL ... If you look at the back right-hand side of a Canadian $10 bill, you will see an old veteran standing at attention near the Ottawa war memorial. His name is Robert Metcalfe and he died last month at the age of 90.That he managed to live to that age is rather remarkable, given what happened in the Second World War. Born in England, he was one of the 400,000 members of the British Expeditionary Force sent to the mainland where they found themselves facing the new German warfare technique - the Blitzkrieg. He was treating a wounded comrade when he was hit in the legs by shrapnel. En route to hospital, his ambulance came under fire from a German tank, which then miraculously ceased fire. Evacuated from Dunkirk on HMS Grenade, two of the sister ships with them were sunk.Recovered, he was sent to allied campaigns in North Africa and Italy. En route his ship was chased by the German battleship Bismarck. In North Africa he served under General Montgomery against the Desert Fox, Rommel. Sent into the Italian campaign, he met his future wife, a lieutenant and physiotherapist in a Canadian hospital. They were married in the morning by the mayor of the Italian town, and again in the afternoon by a British padre. After the war they settled in Chatham where he went into politics and became the warden (chairman) of the county and on his retirement he and his wife moved to Ottawa. At the age of 80 he wrote a book about his experiences. One day out of the blue he received a call from a government official asking him to go downtown for a photo op. He wasn't told what the photo was for or why they chose him. 'He had no idea he would be on the bill,' his daughter said. And that's the story of the old veteran on the $10 bill

Everything Baby, except... well, the baby!

Hope everyone had a good Halloween night, filled with tricks and treats! We had about 60 kids. A huge drop from last year. I think when Halloween falls on a Saturday, more people have a party!I can't believe how dark it is! I hate this... I leave for work in the dark and come home in the dark. It makes a long day seem extra long! Oh well, just means that spring is that much closer! My aunt, cousin and mom came down this weekend. We went to the baby show. What an event that was! My cousin is pregnant and as you all know, we are expecting too! It was a great day. It was really the first time that I felt apart of this whole expecting mother thing! The people at the booths were all so happy for Kyle and I. It was really nice. We brought home a bunch of literature, some baby stuff (bibs, bottles, sippy cups and more), and a tonne and a half of free samples. It was great fun. I can't believe the stuff they have for babies and toddlers! It was a fantastic day!

Hope everyone had a good weekend.
Keep Happy!

Hi everyone,
Nothing new to add. It has been one of those weeks where things that could go wrong, they will!
Oh well, I am back on baby Lauryn focus!
My cousin, Aunt and Mom are going to the baby show this weekend. Still a little earlier for us, but it should be fun.
I love daydreaming about her!
On a very happy note one of my adoptive mommy friends and fellow blogger left for China yesterday! She is going to pick up her little girl! Congratulations Catherine! We send you all the love and best wishes that we can. You've certainly been on my mind! Can't wait to see those pictures! wow!
Hope everyone has a Happy Halloween! TGIF!

Happy Thanksgiving!

it's been awhile...gobble gobble

Hi everyone,
It's been a long time since I have been on here! Sorry, things have been so busy. I have been on a business trip and I am back! Back in action.
Lot's to tell you all.
Johnson has his test date for St. John's Ambulance Dog Therapy program coming up. I don't know they exact date, there were three dates to choose, and the final date will be the date that works for the most people. I will keep you posted.
We are very excited!
There is a rumour on the China Adopt Talk website that files have been reviewed until the end of December! Meaning that 2008 files will start to be reviewed. How exciting is that?
That's amazing news. Woo-hoo!
I have been summoned for Jury Duty!
Craziness!
It's Thanksgiving. The best holiday of the whole year. This holiday has nothing to do with gifts. Just a lot of family and a whole lotta turkey! My parents, grandmother and aunt are coming tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing everyone.
This year has just flown by! I can't believe it's already Thanksgiving.
This year I am most thankful for the love and support of my wonderful family. Kyle and I have always been surrounded by support. Through our entire adoption journey, we have been so fortunate for the support of our families.
I hope everyone finds the one thing that they are most thankful for this year, and that you are lucky enough to surround yourself with whatever makes you happiest.
I can't wait to see a highchair at our thanksgiving table.
Hang on Baby Lauryn...not long now.
I am also thankful for my dreams... each night, I see my sweet daughters face. I picture her snuggled down, in footie pj's after a bath between Kyle and I in our bed. Johnson and Peanut at the foot of our bed (clearly, we will need a bigger bed when this becomes reality!) and we all get cozy and tickle her tummy, tell her how much we love her, and how we've waited for these nights!
I truly wonder what the next year might bring.
Happy, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

St. John's Ambulance Dog Therapy Program

I have been doing a lot of thinking in the last year and a bit. Don't know about you guys, but I guess infertility has changed me. For a long time I blamed myself. It was all my problem. Kyle was so supportive and slowly but surely I was able to get some what of a sense of humour about our troubles. The world is a different place again. One of my very dear family members wrote in one of her comments that the ifs have finally turned into whens... what a great way to put it. Thanks Stac! Anyway... It has changed me. I think that I have always been a pretty good person but our struggles have made me want to be a better person. I have always had a desire to help people. I love animals and most people! So, I have put them together. I have my first meeting with St. John's Ambulance Dog Therapy program! I have signed Johnson up. As long as he can pass the canine aptitude test! We have to commit an hour a week. We start at an old age home and once we've been in the program for a year, we can ask to volunteer for sick children!
Wish us luck! Johnson doesn't come with me tonight. I will keep you posted!

A message from above?

It would have been my Grampy's 90th birthday today. Sadly, my grandfather passed 11 years ago. He was hospitalized the day after my wedding. I was very close to my Grampy and my Nana, who our family lost the year after. We were given the opportunity to say goodbye to my grandfather. When I went into the room with Kyle, I placed a small silver heart on his chest. I whispered for him to take it with him.I guess he took the advice, and for years our family has been finding hearts everywhere! Unexplained places like new cars, or closets and other crazy places. It's been awhile since we have seen any. Last night, my Dad found one. Picture attached. I guess it's Grampy just checking in! My mom has requested that this picture be posted. I can't think of a better good luck charm, then our sign from above that all is going according to plan!

Oh happy day!

Files are reviewed through until October 31, 2007!
Getting closer!

Keep Happy everyone!

tick tock tick tock

I found this website that will calculate the time between two dates right to the second! It's all about the wait...
People have been matched with their China babies up to and including March 24, 2006... our LID (log in date) is August 26, 2008. So that means:
From and including: Friday, March 24, 2006 To, but not including : Tuesday, August 26, 2008
It is 886 days from the start date to the end date, but not including the end date
Or 2 years, 5 months, 2 days excluding the end date
Alternative time units 886 days can be converted to one of these units:
76,550,400 seconds
1,275,840 minutes
21,264 hours
126 weeks (rounded down)...

Patience is a virtue!

Meet Flipper! Yes, the REAL Flipper!

Kyle and I swam with dolphins when we were in Bahamas. This is one of my favourite memories. I can't wait to watch the movie with baby Lauryn and then show her the pictures.
We were lucky enough to meet 3 of the dolphins. Our dolphin's real name is Jake and he is 27 years old! He was playful and fun and very entertaining!
It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I am working on the other photos... but had to get this one up ASAP!

And the winner is...

Lucky number 8! Congratulations Adrian!
I used a random number generator at random.org.
NUMBER 8 is the winner!
Some books sent with love from me to you are on their way!
I will email you for your mailing address.
Just a quick post as I am determined to win the battle between camera vs. computer!

Signs... am I reading to much into this?

Last night we celebrated our one year LID anniversary. We ordered Chinese food (what originals!) and had a pretty relaxing night. THEN it was fortune cookie time.
You know what my fortune said...
A letter of great importance will be coming to you soon...
How cool is that! If I could figure out my camera vs. computer, I would take a picture of it.
Let's see if fortune cookie fortunes are accurate.
I am certainly not expecting our referral, but getting out of review would be kinda nice!
At any rate... one step closer!
Don't forget our LID giveaway... still time. The winner will be selected Saturday!
Keep Happy!

Tim and Stacey you are in my thoughts today!!

One Year LID today - BLOG GIVEAWAY!!

365 days of waiting, wishing, hoping, dreaming, crying, laughing, and talking about our beautiful baby girl who will be forever ours soon! When is the big question, we don't know this yet! I think I have said before that we know Lauryn WILL come home which is so much better than not knowing if we'd ever be parents! We are that much closer... and couldn't be happier. Kyle and I just got back from the Bahamas, and as soon as I can figure out why why computer will not recognize my camera, I will download our pictures! I was up far to late last night trying to figure this out. I am paying the price this morning.
We wanted to celebrate our one year LID date. SO... please leave a comment if you would like to participate. Please include your email address in your comment. If you are chosen (winner will be chosen randomly), I will email you for your address and send you a couple of children's books to start or add to your collection! Winner will be chosen Saturday August 29. I figure this gives you lots of time to comment, and buys me a little more time to try and figure out my camera and computer!
Good luck!

Almost Happy Anniversary

It will be our 11th wedding anniversary on Saturday August 22.
I married my best friend and my one true love. We both never thought that the past 11 years would have taken us to the places we've been. Good times and bad times, sickness and health has been our marriage!
Kyle, you are an amazing generous kind man. You still make my heart skip a beat. I love your smile, your eyes and the way you have shown me your love. You truly are everything I could have asked for. Thank you for being all you are, our little Lauryn will have an amazing father who will teach her how to do right from wrong, to stand up for herself and to follow her dreams. Together we will show her our true love, and how life with a wonderful partner will bring on endless possibilities. Years ago I would dream of our child... will she have your eyes, my nose, your fingers etc. Although this won't be possible for our child, what will be possible is that she will have your sense of humour, your smarts, your pride and the way your good examples of how lead your life. We are blessed beyond measure. Although the wait for our little one continues, I count my blessings everyday to be walking beside a man who will protect me, laugh with me, love me and continue to hold my hand through the peaks and valleys! Kyle, you are my best friend, people are better off for knowing you, and I am better off for loving you.
Forever and a day, always yours,

Your loving wife,
Lisa

What a great feeling that is! I will write more when we get back from our trip. Thanks so much to our family and friends who have offered 365 days of support! 24/7.

Paradise built for two

So... the last couple of years through countless infertility treatments and the whole roller coaster ride of international adoption, Kyle and I dreamt of a vacation for the two of us.

We would talk ourselves into it, then right out of it again.
We have no time, no money, no vacation... blah blah blah... the story of every 30 something couple right? RIGHT!
Well today we did it... we were totally selfish! We are leaving for the BAHAMAS on Thursday.... I can't believe it's real! We need this and so deserve it... so we did it. Thanks to Nana and Grandpa to be, they have totally rearranged their schedules to watch Johnson and Peanut...

Our last trip before we become parents... amazing!

Not quite over the hill... but

35... Monday I will be 35. I can't believe it. the big 30 was never that big of a deal. EVER. I didn't feel old. Now is a different story. 35 is bothering me. Big-time. I know it's not old... especially when you are referring to someone else. But ME... really... 35. Yup! It bothers me. I thought my life would somehow turn out different. I thought I would be a mom by now. (I guess in some ways I am!) I thought I would be consumed by a toss up of sesame street and grade school woes. In some ways I knew my life would be exactly what it is. I knew I would, and still would be married to my best friend! I knew I would surround myself with a few close friends and family that are more like siblings, people that truly make me happy. I knew that my relationship with my parents would continue to grow and be very special. I knew that I would be happy. I am happy... old, but happy! Me 35... Monday... wow!

I follow rumour queens website. The website indicated that files up to and including August 31, 2007 are out of review! The CCAA seems to be reviewing about 3 months worth of files every month... pretty exciting. I can't wait to be out of review. One year and counting. Still baby steps, but I will take em'! This has totally made my day!

Happy Canada Day!

I hope everyone got a chance to enjoy this day! Kyle and I totally took advantage and slept in BIG TIME! Once we got up and at em' we took Johnson for a long walk on a trail by our house. He surprised us both by jumping right in the water! We had a great time.

My aunt, cousin and her daughter stopped by for a quick visit. They were visiting family in Belleville, and on the way home they stopped for a cup of tea. My cousin and her daughter are moving to Australia! I wish them all the luck in the world. It was so nice to see them, hard to say goodbye though! Bittersweet!
Back to work tomorrow!

Happy Canada Day everyone!

Happy Father's Day

A little late on this post, but better late then never!
Nothing really new to report! Still waiting!
Kyle spent his Father's Day (in waiting) fishing! Baby Lauryn, Johnson and Peanut bought Kyle a new fishing rod, and a tackle box! He loved them!
I spent some time with my dear Dad. I had a couple of days off and went to visit my Mom and Dad. I had a lovely time. Took my Dad to the golf course and Kyle and I bought him a new driver. He was thrilled. We had a couple of really nice BBQ dinners and also tried our luck at Bingo! My Mom, Aunts and cousins (all mother/daughter teams!) went to play Bingo. Between us, we came home with $29 each! Although I didn't add to our shared jackpot, I was sure I was going to win! LOL!
Keep Happy!

Happy Birthday Grandpa to be!

Today my hero turns 60! My dad is 60 today! Happy Birthday DAD!
What can I say about my Dad. He is funny, helpful, and generous with his time. He never wants to see people in pain. Has a soft spot for children and pets, and knows how to laugh at himself. He has taught me right from wrong, lead by example and has always provided a safe and honest place that I could (and still can!) call home!
He has helped me in ways that I can't put into words. He has also allowed me to be who I am, never questioning my judgement, but always there to pick up the pieces. Both my mom and dad have played a huge part in our adoption. My greatest joy, will be dropping our daughter off at Nana and Grandpas, knowing that she will get to experience the unconditional love that you've always given both Kyle and I.
Thanks Dad. Have wonderful birthday. Everyone who knows you, knows just how well you deserve it! I love you. xo

NOW it's 9 months and one day...

I forgot when I screwed up our LID to change the lilypie ticker at the top of the bog... so now it's officially 9 months and 1 day. Do you think it's safe to say that we are 1/3rd of the way there?

9 months today! Holy!

Today we celebrate our 9 month LID date... 9 months!
Although this "pregnancy" is probably going to be longer than a elephants, we are happy.
We know that baby Lauryn will soon make her appearance, and until that day, we wait.
We are happy, healthy and have so much to celebrate and to be thankful for. Trust me... we are!
Sometimes we just have to take stock in our blessings.
I wish everyone a happy long weekend. I hope you can all take the time to count the things that you are thankful for. My wish is that you lose count, because there is just so much!
Happy long weekend!
With love,

Mom's the word!

Happy Mother's Day. I am a very lucky girl. Not only to I have the world's greatest Mom, but also the world's greatest husband.
I have the world's greatest Dad, Dog, Cat and friends and family too!!!
Let me round out the weekend for you...
I came home on Friday and the house was full of tulips!
There was a note attached to one of the bunches that said Happy Mama's Day, Love Baby Lauryn. See you soon. xoxox
There was also a "I love my Mommy" bib. Kyle, you are the world's most thoughtful husband. I adore you! Thanks for making my day special!
Friday night my parents came down. They stayed the night, and on Saturday Mom and I went to get our hair done. That's what we do for Mother's Day. My treat!
Then we did some shopping and just caught up! It was nice.
Sunday we went to see Kyle's mom and my Grandmother. We had a great dinner at my parents place, and just hung out. It was really nice.
The weather wasn't that great, but the company made up for it!

I feel in my heart that our baby is out there. I just hope she can feel our love too. Sometimes I could just scream with how frustrating the wait has been. Other times I am totally fine with it. I guess that's pretty normal!
I just want my baby home. I want her to know that she is loved, and she will never want for anything that she needs! A pony might be a want, but one that we will have to negotiate! LOL! Truthfully, we can't be certain that Baby Lauryn is even born yet. If she is and she is waiting in the orphanage, it breaks my heart to think that she is crying without being held, hungry without being fed. I am sure they do the best they can. I can't wait to bring our little girl home. I hope I am half the mother that my mother has been to me. She is the worlds most kind, gentle, brilliant, funny beautiful mother in the whole world. Thank you for shaping me, thank you for allowing me to be who I wanted, and thank you most for supporting me in our adoption journey. I love you Mom. Happy Mother's Day! xo

To all the mother's out there. Regardless of what part of the journey your are on, remember that your baby is out there. You've come this far. Each day you get a little closer. Good luck with the rest of your journey. For those of you with babies already. Congratulations. I can't wait to be part of the club!

Patio Laterns

Okay.... so the weather is suppose to be AMAZING this weekend! Kyle brought the patio set out of hibernation to celebrate!
We got a new bbq grill and we are ready!
Mom and my cousin are coming for the weekend. We are going to do some scrapbooking and take a look around Pickering flea market. Should be fun.
I think I might start Lauryn's life book. Now that our paper chase is done, I want to start filling in her life book. That way when she is home, we can concentrate on things on all her firsts when she's home. So if I get the paper chase portion of her life book complete, it won't be quite as overwhelming! Big plans! Wish me luck!
I hope everyone will get a chance to enjoy the highly awaited beautiful weekend!
Keep Happy!

Hippity Hop

Happy Easter everyone!
We had a lovely family dinner last night. Way to much food! Goodness!
Lot's of leftovers! We will be eating turkey all week!
To our dear baby Lauryn. Your Easter basket isn't empty. Nana bought you a new pair of shoes. They are beautiful. They have bluebirds on them and are so cute!
Thanks Nana!
So, the Thomson family will be nursing turkey hangovers today. We will all have an afternoon nap I am sure! Sweet dreams of baby Lauryn are the name of the game today!
I hope everyone is enjoying their Easter weekends.
Keep Happy...Keep Hoppy! haha!

Shingles aren't only for roof tops!

I've been feeling under the weather lately. Thought it was just a common cold. Something that needed to run its course. I went to the doctor on Saturday. I needed a note to cover my absence at work for the better part of Thursday and Friday.
As it turns out I have shingles! Adult chicken pox. What the...
Can you imagine?
So, I am home bound for a couple of more days. Bored out of my mind. I am in some pain, and the couch isn't all that exciting. I just want to do something. Truthfully, I don't have the energy to do anything! I am pretty grumpy! LOL! I have almost finished a really great book. It's called China Ghosts. It's an adoption tale from the fathers prospective. A gift from a friend at work. It is pretty amazing. I've really enjoyed it!
Just a quick update. Nothing really new to report. We are still waiting... however, for this part of the wait, I am covered in spots on my left side!
Keep Happy!

Spring has sprung!

Welcome Spring! After a long winter, I can't wait a minute longer. Yesterday was the first day of spring and I took a vacation day to celebrate!
A long weekend is sometimes better than anything!
It's been a pretty productive weekend. Just looked at our counter and we made the 7 month mark. Holy! I sometimes lose track, and then take a look and can't believe it!
We are going to visit my Mom and Dad tomorrow. It's tax time, Mom is our make shift accountant! Thanks Mom!
It amazes me how my mother is so many things! She really knows how to do just about anything, and if she doesn't' she learns! What a woman! I hope I am half the Mom that she has always been to me!
Feeling a little emotional lately. Not really sure what that's about, but the smallest things bring tears to my eyes. I guess it's just those winter blues. Well, goodbye old man winter, not sure I will miss you much!
Our dear Johnson has started to linger a little longer outside... it must be spring. The muddy paws are a sure indicator. Our cat Peanut has even taken an interest in the deck.
I hope that this random post finds you and yours well and enjoying the sun!
Keep happy!

blah, blah, blah

I think I am suffering from the blah's... it's still so cold outside! It's been a long, cold, dark winter.
When I get up it's really dark. Even Johnson is to tired to really do anything in the morning!
I let him out, he has a quick pee and then back inside. He gets his cookie and before I even have the kettle boiled he's upstairs in bed curled up with Kyle!

Nothing new to report at all.
Just a quick update to let you all know that the Thomson's are still hanging in!

I hope we all get a chance to enjoy the predicted sunshine this weekend!

6 months and counting

So far this "pregnancy" has been a breeze... no morning sickness, no aches, no pains... some tears, but mostly thankful that we are in que for our baby girl!
6 months we've been waiting for our referral... I can't believe it!

My heart is full

Wanted to write a quick post. We have a pretty busy weekend coming up. Wanted to wish everyone a happy heart day! Some people think that this is just a hallmark holiday. I tend to agree, but still want to let my loved ones know that they are loved on valentines day and always.

Also wanted to welcome a new member to our family. My cousin gave birth to her second baby boy on Wednesday. Welcome to the world Allister (sp??) still have to check on that one. Their first son Declan is thrilled with his new big brother role. I am pleased to report that everyone is happy and healthy.
My adoptive mommy friend Krista and her husband seem to be settling into parenthood rather well. Congratulations!
My husband is home from yet another business trip.
My family is all happy and healthy. As I am sure you all know, we are eagerly awaiting our Lauryn's arrival. Therefore, my heart is full!
I got this email at work today. I love it, and wanted to share it.

Someone will always be prettier.
Someone will always be smarter.
Some of their houses will be bigger.
Some will drive a better car.
Their children will do better in school.
And their husband will fix more things around the house.
So let it go, and love you and your circumstances.
Think about it!
The prettiest woman in the world can have hell in her heart.
The most highly favored woman on your job may be unable to have children.
The richest woman you know, she's got the car, the house, the clothes~ might be lonely.
And the word says, 'If I have not Love, I am nothing.' So, again, love you. Love who you are. Look in the mirror in the morning and smile and say, 'I am too Blessed to be Stressed
and too Anointed, to be Disappointed!'
'Winners make things happen~~ Losers let things happen.' Be 'Blessed'

It just keeps getting better!

Although there isn't anything new to report on our end... We are still waiting and busy trying to decide the details of the nursery. We have all the time and let me tell you a million ideas!

We will begin working on the nursery in the summer. I can't wait!

On a really happy note my adoptive mommy friend and her husband, had their forever family day and they are in the process of flying home. I can not put into words how happy it makes me.

This adoption roller coaster is a crazy ride. The blogs that people publish are like counselling!

I think everyone who is going through this can relate. There have been a couple of blogs that I follow like a religion and "the robinsons are waiting" is an amazing read! Their journey has been overwhelming and exciting! It brings to reality that we all have babies out there and soon, we will be celebrating our magic moments, our forever family days and the long flight home.

Welcome Home Robinson Family of 3! Can't wait to read the next part of your journey. I also can't wait for you to read ours!

And baby makes 3!

So nice

Congratulations to my adoptive mommy friend. She and her DH met their beautiful boy today! They will be coming home from South Korea soon! The pictures are beautiful and it's really nice to see their "Magic Moment" come to life! We are so happy for them!
I have been on vacation all week! it's been amazing.
My Dad came to stay with me for a bit, he helped me help the handyman we hired!
We have some beautiful new faucets and light fixtures... and toilet seats! Kyle gets home tonight from a business trip. I can't wait to see him and see what he things of the new stuff!
I started a cross stitch for the nursery. It's a really small one. Good thing... it's going to take me forever. Slow and steady wins the race!
I love having vacation! This week has been great. My cousins are coming for a visit and a catch up, and it will be so nice!
Back to reality on Monday!
I should really go and buy some lottery tickets!

Kung Hei Fat Choy- Happy New Year Baby Lauryn!

Happy New Year! This is the year of the Ox!
OX 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997

Ox people are hard-working and persistent, they can stick at a task longer and go at it harder than anybody. They believe in themselves and tend to classify almost everything into two basic categories, bad and good. They hold up their high standards as a model and severely judge those who don't aspire to maintain these same ideals.
Ox people are not social or party animals, they tend to be quiet when in a party. Although appears to be tranquil, in fact, Oxens are ponderous but impulsive when angry. They are capable of fearsome rages, therefore, it is better not to cross an Oxen.
Ox people are observant, they have remarkable memories and are good at reporting on absolutely everything they observe. Go ask an Oxen if he remembers who were at the party 8 months ago, most likely, he will name them one by one to you.
In the home, the Ox is a great guy to have around. In business, the OX can succeed in the arts, a contracting business, or an estate., thanks to their creative nature. And since an Ox is intelligent and good at his hands, he can be a good surgeon as well.
Ox people are stubborn and dogmatic, they believe in their decision and will never regret. They are also very close to their families. disappointingly, Oxens often find that those who are close to them fail to understand them. Nevertheless, they are patient, and caring and that makes the Oxen the best friend you can ever have.
Oxens are very responsible and loyal. Ox people are seldom jealous. but they will be jealous of their rights; and the fidelity of a husband or a wife is one of their rights. They are very family-oriented, conservative and faithful.

I was wrong, but it's all good!

So, we got an update from our agency today. Looks like I was wrong. I had originally posted stating that our LID was August 18... turns out it's August 26. Our files were sent August 15, received August 18 and logged in August 26.
They are stating that the wait is currently 34 months from your log in date. That would mean our referral would come around May 2011! It sounds sooo far away!! Yikes. So, I ate some cookies and dried my tears. I am back to battle the wait.
I am okay with this. Really, really I am. We have so much to do, and we want to do it right. So, I am okay with this. However... I just want our baby girl home.
On the plus side, there are lots of events coming up through our agency. I hope we are able to attend some of them!
I think it's just the week. It's dark, cold and there is so much snow. Time for some me time!
Goodness knows I have the time for it! LOL!
For all the families waiting for their children, I wish you all lots of love and best wishes.
For all those lucky ones who have their children... enjoy every second!
Keep warm everyone... it's cold out there!

Happy Birthday Daddy to be!

Just a quick note to wish my darling husband Kyle a very happy birthday.
I hope this is a year of dreams coming true for you!
I can't wait until our daughter is in charge of making your birthday cake! Knowing you, you'd eat the whole thing if she used salt instead of sugar. You will make a great Daddy!
You are my very best friend, my one true love, and so supportive!
With love today and always. xoxo

Also, it's with great pleasure that I announce that my adoptive mommy friend and her husband got the call that they are travelling! They will hold their dear son very soon.
Congratulations!

Bring it '09!

Nothing new to report, it's still a hurry up and wait game. You know what, I'm okay with that! For the time being anyway. Kyle and I are in the middle of some home renos! Nothing major, just some stuff to make our lives a bit easier, and our home a bit homier (if that's even a word!) Well... when they are all done our lives will be a bit easier LOL!
Kyle has been super busy. I mean BUSY! He travels for business a LOT in January. It's awesome for him. He eats, sleeps and breaths his job. I wish I could love my job that much! Don't get me wrong I do love my job, but it certainly doesn't spill over into any extra curricular activities that I do. For Kyle, it's everything. It's one of the things I love most about him. He's so passionate about his work.
My Mom and Dad have been a huge help. Not sure January would run as smoothly if they weren't as helpful. So, just a little shout out to Mom and Dad. Thanks for all you do! I hope that Kyle and I are half the parents you've been to me... well to us!
The nursery should be empty and ready to tackle by the end of January. I can't wait! I just have to remember that our champagne idea's and our beer budget need to meet somewhere in the middle! So like the title says... Bring it '09... we are ready.
